About Yamegoma, also known as Kumamoto Koma:
Founded in 1899 in Yame City, Japan, Yamegoma is a sixth generation workshop known for its beautifully handcrafted wooden spinning tops. Originally makers of Buddhist altar parts, they began crafting tops using expert wood processing techniques passed down through generations.
Today, they are the only remaining makes of Yame Koma and continue to preserve this timeless craft. Believing in the value of traditional toys in a digital world, they create tops that nurture fine motor skills, patience and social play - just as they did over a century ago.
Please note for all our wooden toys
As a natural material, wood possesses diverse markings that appear in each of our products, They frequently display growth rings, knots and colour spots, which are not considered defects but rather markers of its natural origin. These characteristics lend a unique touch to each individual toy, adorned with distinct marks gifted by nature. These unique variations are testament to the quality, not defect.
